About Jamaica

Jamaica is an island country of the West Indies about 400 miles off the coast of Florida. The capital city is Kingston. At 146 miles long and 22-50 miles wide, it is the third largest island in the Caribbean. Jamaica has a rugged topography going from sea level to above 7,000 feet inland. Jamaica is hot and humid much of the year but cools off the higher up you go. Annual rainfall is an average of 82 inches. With diverse ecosystems including mountain peaks, beach, rainforests and savannas, Jamaica has many beautiful landscapes. However the people are what make the island special. Tourism, finance and agriculture are leading industries on the island. So if a beautiful sunny island with loving people is your kind of place, then Jamaica is for you!
